Dementia Concern

Dementia Concern supports people living with dementia and their carers in the London Borough of Ealing to live as independently as possible through personalised care, practical support and community activities

About service:

Dementia Concern is a local charity based in the London Borough of Ealing that has supported people living with dementia and their carers since 1982. Its mission is to help those affected by dementia maintain independence, wellbeing and connection within their community through a range of tailored services, practical support and social opportunities.

The charity offers a variety of support services designed to meet the needs of individuals at different stages of dementia and their families. One key service is Safe at Home, a monitoring and support programme for people with dementia who live alone; participants are paired with a dedicated support worker who provides ongoing assistance and reassurance to help them remain safe and supported in their own homes.

Dementia Concern also provides Dementia Adviser and Link Worker services, where trained staff act as named contacts for people with dementia and their carers. These advisers conduct assessments, offer advice and information, coordinate referrals to additional services, and help families access the support that best suits their circumstances.

In addition, the charity runs social clubs and day-care activities that give people living with dementia the chance to socialise, share experiences and participate in engaging, therapeutic activities in a safe and supportive environment. These sessions allow carers a valuable break and the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges, while also helping reduce isolation and maintain cognitive and social wellbeing for participants.

Other services include weekend day care, respite support, information and advice for carers, advocacy and representation, and regular newsletters that keep families informed about services and events. Through this broad range of initiatives, Dementia Concern aims to offer practical help, emotional support and a sense of community for people affected by dementia within Ealing.

The charity’s work is grounded in long-standing local partnerships and deep community knowledge, enabling it to respond flexibly to changing needs and ensure people living with dementia and their carers receive high-quality, person-centred support.
