The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) provides free day visits, residential breaks and seasonal activities for children facing illness, disability or social disadvantage, creating joyful, inclusive experiences where they can play, explore and make lasting memories

About service:

The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) is a UK charity based at Booth Bank Farm in Cheshire that provides free day visits, residential breaks and themed seasonal activities for children aged 17 and under whose lives are affected by illness, disability, complex medical needs or social disadvantage. Founded in 1985 with a mission to offer children opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach, CAFT creates an inclusive, accessible environment where children of all abilities can play, explore and simply be kids in a safe and welcoming countryside setting.

CAFT delivers a range of tailored programmes designed to meet the diverse needs of the children it supports. Its outdoor day visits allow groups or families to enjoy the charity’s outdoor spaces, meet friendly animals and take part in play and adventure activities. The holiday programme offers longer residential stays where children and their families can participate in arts and crafts, games, sensory play, music and woodland exploration across the ten-acre site. Seasonal events — including Easter activities, the accessible summer festival CAFTFest, Halloween sessions and magical Christmas visits with gifts — provide additional opportunities for fun, connection and memory-making.

Children who benefit from CAFT’s services include those living with severe physical or learning disabilities, sensory impairments, terminal illness, bereavement, or those acting as young carers. Many visitors come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have limited access to mainstream leisure activities; CAFT’s free programmes offer not only enjoyment but also a chance for children to build confidence, social skills and resilience. Families also gain respite and the chance to spend quality time together in an accepting, barrier-free environment.

CAFT’s work is made possible entirely through voluntary contributions and the support of donors, volunteers and community partners, as it receives no statutory funding. The charity’s impact is seen in the smiles, laughter and treasured memories created for children and families, giving them moments of joy and freedom that can make a lasting difference in challenging times.
