2 Wish

When a family loses a child or a young adult, the effects are devastating for all who knew and loved them. Our mission is to ensure that all those affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young adult aged 25 or under receive the bereavement support they need and deserve.

About service:

2wish is a UK bereavement charity dedicated to supporting anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. Founded in 2012 following the tragic loss of the founder’s own child and partner, 2wish’s mission is to ensure that no family, friend, witness or professional faces such loss alone, and that those affected receive the compassionate support they need when it matters most.

The charity provides immediate, tailored support from the earliest moments after a bereavement through to as long as an individual needs care. This begins with outreach within 24–48 hours of referral, often facilitated by hospitals and frontline services, enabling trained 2wish staff to offer guidance, reassurance and practical help during the first days of grief.

Central to the charity’s approach are its immediate support services, which include thoughtfully prepared memory boxes supplied to families at the time of a loss, offering keepsakes such as inkless handprint kits, memorial candles and forget-me-not seeds to help preserve precious memories. Bereavement rooms in hospitals provide a private, supportive environment for families at an extremely difficult time.

In addition to immediate care, 2wish offers a range of ongoing bereavement services designed to meet individual needs over time. These include professional counselling, complementary therapies, support groups and play therapy for children, ensuring emotional support can continue at each stage of the grieving process. Support is available not only to family members but also to friends, witnesses of a sudden death and professionals whose work brings them into contact with loss.

Beyond direct support, 2wish also delivers specialist training and awareness programmes for professionals, helping carers, educators, emergency responders and others understand bereavement and how to provide appropriate, sensitive support.

Operating across Wales with an expanding footprint in multiple counties in England, 2wish remains committed to its core belief that compassionate, practical and ongoing support should be accessible to all affected by sudden bereavement.
